  • Controlling the flow of sensitive information is a vital protection for intellectual property and compliance.

    Compliance requirements necessitate the use of extra layers of protection for sensitive information. In addition, a key element of security best practice is the ability to prevent confidential information from entering or leaving the business through email. Email content controls can be defined in two categories; firstly the corporate control that is compliance-driven for regulation and looks for specific dictionaries of words or phrases.     Managing attachments in email is a foundation of most organizations’ email security policies. Mimecast’s Secure Email Gateway will hold dangerous attachments by default, but if you need greater control and flexible security policies to manage other types of attachments, this service is essential.

    Protecting your users from non-essential attachments is often more than just a security policy. There are measureable compliance and even productivity gains in defining the attachment types that groups of users have permission to send and receive. The Mimecast Secure Email Gateway with the Attachment Management option is able to detect any type of attachment in an email, and then react in a number of different ways based on the defined security policy.

    • Metadata Track and Trace provides 14 days of email metadata retention, including timestamps and source destination IP and SMTP conversation details. Administrators can access this content through our Track and Trace tools to help solve helpdesk issues and email delivery problems.

This feature gives your administrators the ability to control outbound notifications for a variety of situations; such as managing staff who have left the business, or responses to inbound enquiry emails.

    • Automated responses to inbound emails can be configured by the email administrator in either plain text or HTML.
